So it’s a Scion, but it’s always interesting to see a relatively new car company slowly improve. Of course that shouldn’t be hard if your dad is Toyota, but still. Case in point, the new Scion tC is slowly shaping up, with less mediocre looks, mildly improved build quality, and significantly more power (18o bhp, 20 more than the first generation). The Release Series is Scions way of making a very limited special edition.
Just 2,000 of these tC 8.0 release series versions will come out of the factory, starting at $21,815, plus a $730 destination charge, and an additional $1,050 if you’d like one with an automatic transmission. So if you’re in the market for a Scion tC, why should you pay $3,240 more for a limited version?
The 8.0 release series is available in one colour, Absolutely Red, and special trim means you get side mirrors in gloss black, black alloy wheels, and a complete ground effects kit that was designed especially by Five Axis Design. TRD (Toyota Racing Development) has also thrown its chips in, adding a set of a lowering springs, and a certainly unique center exhaust system. They also give the automatic version some flappy paddles on the steering wheel.
On the inside, the theme continues with red stitching on the seats, a leather wrapped steering wheel, and of course, that all important metal plate that says you’ve bought just one of two thousand. Watch the video below for more.
