The Eurozone is in turmoil. No one needs to be reminded of that. So how do you save money intuitively without making everyone freak out? Give your employees an 8 day vacation with 80 percent pay. Starting June 14th and 15th, then June 20th and 21st, an additional four days in July, 5,400 staff at Fiat’s Mirafiori headquarters in Turin Italy will have their days off funded by Italy’s Cassa Integrazione program for temporary layoffs. This is in addition to the company’s usual summer vacation for the month of August. The move saves a total of 1 million euros ($1.25 million U.S.). While Fiat may be trying to save money, it’s doing decently well due to good sales from Fiat Brazil and Chrysler.
